Taylor's Chapel United Methodist Church
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.
For 13 years, along with other area churches, we’ve hosted the Back to School Bash the Monday before school begins. We provide a backpack with all supplies on a student’s list as well as a new outfit, new shoes, and a new haircut. A meal is provided for students and their parents. The library, health department, and other agencies have informational booths. We also have craft stations and face painting where the gospel is shared.
Household Supplies
Along with First Baptist and Dyer’s Creek First Church of God we provide household bags filled with household cleaning supplies, toilet paper and personal hygiene products that can be picked up at Good Samaritans.
We collect donations of flour and corn meal for the local Good
Samaritans. During the winter months, we also contribute to a fund for those who may need help with their electric bills.
Celebrate Recovery® Inside is the prison and jail extension of the Celebrate Recovery® ministry, a program founded by John and Cheryl Baker of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, that encourages fellowship and celebrates Christ’s healing power in the lives of people as they work their way along the road to recovery. Lives are changed as experiences, strengths, and hopes are shared with one another. In addition, individuals become willing to accept God’s grace and forgiveness in solving life’s problems.A Celebrate Recovery meeting is held in the Stewart County Detention Center each week. In 2019 12 inmates were baptized. Unfortunately, Covid has paused the program.
We participate in this summer mission project along
with other churches in Stewart County. Volunteers spend one week out in the community completing small home projects for those in need. In the past, we have helped with painting, building a wheel chair ramp, clearing brush, and many other projects!
We team with other churches to host a community wide youth revival each year.
Sue Brigham Nursing Home Ministry
Named after the the person who began this ministry, members go visit with the residents and sing with them in the dining room. Unfortunately, due to Covid we are unable to visit at this time but look forward to returning.
